What GetHomeFixed is

GetHomeFixed is an independent home repair and DIY reference for US homeowners. We cover septic systems, power tools, roofing, plumbing, and other essential maintenance topics — with a focus on helping homeowners make informed decisions before a small problem becomes an expensive one.

We are not a contractor directory, a lead generation service for repair companies, or a platform funded by the brands we cover. Our revenue comes primarily from Amazon affiliate commissions on products we've already evaluated editorially.

Research first

Every topic we cover starts with a research phase: understanding the problem homeowners face, what the available solutions are, and what the relevant variables are for a typical US household. We cross-reference manufacturer specifications, user feedback patterns, and third-party test data before forming a position.

Product evaluation criteria

When we evaluate products — whether a septic tank additive or a power tool battery — we assess on the following dimensions:

• Active ingredients or specifications versus category benchmarks
• Fit for the homeowner use case (not professional/commercial)
• Documented performance data and reliability patterns
• Price-to-value relative to alternatives
• Long-term considerations (compatibility, availability, support)

What we don't do
